Security & Safeguarding
Security & Safeguarding for your child
The safety, security and well-being of the children and adults attending Harrietsham Preschool is of paramount importance. We make our setting a safe and healthy place for children, parents, staff and visitors by having policies and procedures in place and by making sure all staff understand and follow them.
Our Designated Safeguarding Leads are: Susan Taylor and Shelley Davis. If you have any concerns about the safety and security of any child or their family, it is essential that you speak to Susan or Shelley. You can request a private meeting to discuss your concerns, all concerns will be treated with the upmost confidence. We may be able to put your mind at rest, or we may need to make a referral to specialist services, to ensure the safety of a child.
We are registered with Ofsted (Office for Standards in Education) and are regularly inspected by them to ensure our provision meets with the learning and development requirements, and complies with the welfare regulations, as required by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework. Our registration number is EY340143. In 2018 we achieved Ofsted Good, with an Outstanding in children’s Personal Development, Behaviour and Welfare. You can view our inspection on our Useful Links page.
We are members of the Preschool Learning Alliance (PLA) and are covered by their comprehensive insurance scheme which is underwritten by Royal Sun & Alliance plc. This includes both Employers and Public Liability Insurance. Certificates can be found on our main notice board within preschool.
The development, quality of care and safety of children is our highest priority at all times. Harrietsham Preschool upholds a commitment to Safeguarding Children and follows a carefully structured recruitment procedure and training programme. Our setting has a duty under the law for safeguarding children against suspected or actual ‘significant harm’. We can offer support, including referral to appropriate agencies when necessary, to help families in difficulty.
All staff are checked through DBS (The Disclosure and Barring Service) and suitably qualified. Committee members are also checked through DBS.
Note: It is important for your child's learning and development that you ensure your child arrives at Preschool on time. Equally it is just as important that you collect your child on time, as it can be distressing for them when familiar routines change.
All of our staff and anyone who is connected with the management of the preschool are made aware through policy for the need of confidentiality. We hold in a secure area all confidential information. Records on staff and children are only accessible to those who have a right or professional needs to see them. We adhere to our responsibilities under the Data Protection Act 1998 and the Freedom of Information Act 2000.
